Rotary Club of Daylesford
Daylesford Rotary are a happy group of local volunteers who meet regularly to raise funds and plan and implement service projects that will benefit those in need in the community, around Australia and throughout the world.
The club was founded in 1953 and still continues to contribute as a service group to Daylesford/Hepburn and surrounding Districts, nationally and internationally. From the beginning, foundation members embraced the principles of Rotary and used them to guide their work. Although the number of members has increased and decreased over the years our club has been fortunate enough to retain a core group of long term members who mentor and encourage newer members.
Each year the club sets goals for the coming 12 months including a club programme, fundraising events, service projects and social gatherings.
Weekly meetings are held at the Daylesford Bowling Club where members gather from 6.30pm for a 7pm start. They usually run for around 75 minutes, and the time goes fast as we enjoy the company and fellowship of colleagues, input from a guest speaker, fun sessions and member reports over dinner and drinks. Members are expected to attend at least 2 meetings or club activities per month. As we are involved in many community activities on weekends or after hours it is not difficult for them to meet this commitment if they are unable to regularly attend meetings.
